I am writing to apply for the aforementioned position with your company advertised in JobsDB.

My former position as Legal Officer in a Hong Kong-listed company significantly enriched my exposure in all aspects of corporate legal and secretarial affairs.  I have the privilege to assist my company in resolving various legal and corporate issues in Hong Kong and China.  My diligence, strong sense of responsibility and initiative to tackle difficult tasks were duly recognized, and I was promoted to Personal Assistant to the Chairman.

I had gained extensive real-life experiences in the commercial and manufacturing fields.  These experiences allowed me to think laterally with commercial acumen and to build rapport effectively with internal/external clients.  With my background in China, I am especially fond of working with Mainland Chinese colleagues and clients.  These advantages could come in handy in an in-house environment.

Please review my curriculum vitae attached.  Based on the job description, I expect a salary in the range of $30,000 to $34,000 per month, and would be available after Chinese New Year.  I would appreciate the opportunity to speak to you and to discuss the career opportunity at your earliest convenience.  Please contact me any time via the number or email provided as below.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Dear Sir/Madam,
Application for trainee solicitor
I am writing to apply for the 2010 trainee solicitor position with your firm advertised
in JobsDB.

I graduated from the University of Manchester law school last summer and I am now
with the Chinese University of Hong Kong under its PCLL programme. I expect to
complete the course in the summer of 2010. I first became aware of your firm during
my relatively short stint working as a paralegal in Barnes & Daly Solicitors earlier
this year. I subsequently found out more about your firm from your website. I truly
believe that your wide practice area and dedication to the law means your firm is the
most suitable learning ground for young solicitors.

I am ambitious in developing a successful legal career. I am a responsible individual
while also placing great importance on teamwork. I have good communication and
inter-personal skills which I believe are essential for working as team. I have a wide
range of work experience although only having graduated a year ago. I speak fluent
English as well as Cantonese. Please see the enclosed CV for my experiences, skills,
achievements and schooling details. I believe my experiences and attitudes make me a
competitive candidate for the position. I am expecting a monthly salary of around
$18,000.

I am genuinely interested in becoming part of your team and hope to get an
opportunity to discuss this matter further over an interview. I can be reached by
my mobile, 6762 5047 and I am available for an interview anytime. Should you
need anymore details please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your
time and consideration. I look forward to hear from you soon.
